Individual Therapy

I offer therapy that is tailored to the individual. During our initial consultation we can decide on the approach that will work for you.

Some issues, for example Habit Reversal or Phobias are most suited to working with solution focused, short term Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy but often I use a combination of approaches with clients.

It is important to me that my clients start working with me in the way that is most comfortable for them. This can mean working purely with thoughts and feelings in talking sessions; moving to working with imagination, relaxation and hypnosis to create powerful behavioural change, through to transformational embodied work using movement, role play and voice.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is an integrative, mind-body based approach that helps people to manage their thoughts, feelings and mental health. The practice of mindfulness is increasingly being recognised as an effective treatment for mental health issues, including anxiety and stress.

All of the approaches I use are also suitable and effective for working with children and young people.

What I can help with

Anxiety and stress

We live in a society where great demands and responsibilities are placed on us. More people than ever are showing signs of overwhelm, which leads to anxiety and stress, significantly harming their quality of life and sense of wellbeing. It could be an event that is causing your anxiety, such as starting a new job or making a presentation for work or it could be a more underlying general sense of unease. If you are suffering, I can help you explore ways of freeing yourself from anxiety and stress to live a more free, fulfilled and joyful life.

Social anxiety and confidence

Social anxiety is a common type of anxiety disorder affecting a large percentage of the population. It typically features an intense fear of being watched or judged by others. It can cause a feeling of intense discomfort in everyday situations – such as speaking with friends and meeting new people. If you feel inhibitions and anxiety are holding you back from taking opportunities socially or at work, I have the tools to help you start to shine.

Insomnia

Most of us will have experienced a disrupted sleep and will know how it feels when you can’t seem to fall asleep. Perhaps you found it easy to fall asleep, but continue to wake up through the night. Either way, a rough sleep can leave you feeling drained and irritable the next day. Those who suffer from insomnia will experience these feelings regularly. Hypnotherapy for insomnia can tackle any potential causes, such as anxiety whilst helping you learn how to relax, get to sleep and tackle frequent wake ups.

Fears/phobias

Phobias are far more common than many people realise. A phobia is an irrational fear, a fear without good reason. Some people may have a phobia of insects, heights or confined spaces. But a phobia can develop about anything. It is estimated that more than 11% of the population have some kind of irrational fear. Hypnotherapy is a very effective treatment for all kinds of fears and phobias.

Habits

Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for eliminating habits such as nail biting, overeating or smoking. I can help you transform an annoying or unhealthy habit by installing a 'competing' healthy habit in its place.

Emotional support when life overwhelms

I offer a safe and non judgemental space where you can be yourself and express your feelings freely, whilst supporting you to reflect, and find ways to move forward.

Fertility issues

High stress can damage a couple's chances of successful conception and a healthy pregnancy. I can help with learning to let go of the stress and relax more around the idea of trying to conceive and any underlying fears around becoming a parent that may be holding you back.

Young people and children

I am experienced in working with children and young people. I deliver individual therapy and groups in schools, privately and in my role as Dramatherapist within the NHS.

Grief and bereavement

It can be a struggle to find meaning and purpose in life after loss. Grief is experienced after the death of a loved one, but people also experience grief for other losses in life, including relationships that have ended or unwanted retirement. The emotions of grief can feel complex, especially if the relationship or circumstance around the ending are difficult. Sometimes grief from the past has been left unresolved and it surprises us again with its intensity, years down the line. I offer therapeutic support for people experiencing any type of grief.

Critical illness

I offer therapeutic support sessions to people who have received a life changing or terminal diagnosis and their families.

Difficult emotions

I also offer therapy for people experiencing Low Self Esteem, Worry, Depression, Shame and other difficult emotions.

Relax

I teach Relaxation techniques to my clients to help them cope with everyday stress and they are easy to learn. This is a recording for you to use to practise inducing the body’s natural relaxation response, characterised by slower breathing, lower blood pressure, and a feeling of increased well- being.
